Are You on the Path to Heart Disease?

An article posted yesterday in the L.A. Times gives us a grim picture of America's heart health. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, nearly half of all Americans have high cholesterol, high blood pressure or diabetes - all factors that increase the risk for heart disease. And millions of Americans have more than one of these conditions. The article reminds us that we often feel more healthy than we really are; it reminds us of the value of staying on top of our health. Most of all, it reminds us of the importance of personal responsibility. We can't prevent everything, but we can control what we eat and how much we exercise - which certainly goes a long way.
