The Growing Need for Low-Cost Health Insurance

Health care costs are increasing at an alarming rate, negatively affecting the lives of millions of Americans who, during an economic downturn, are already finding it difficult to afford basic necessities. According to a recent study by Families USA, Americans are spending an increasing percentage of their family incomes on health care. For millions of people, the cost of health care now exceeds 10 percent of their annual income.

The report points to rising premiums as the primary reason for the overall increase in costs. It also cites increases in health care spending, which are the result of more expensive drugs and hospital care.

This study – and many more like it – indicates a growing need for low-cost health insurance. Too many people are struggling to make ends meet, finding themselves in desperate need of an affordable solution. To our thinking, if high premiums are the primary reason for increased costs, then low-premium coverage is the obvious answer.
